Comparison of the hormonal reproductive cycles in women and pigs. The estrous cycle in pigs begins and ends with ovulation/estrous [20,86]. The menstrual cycle in women begins and ends with the start of menses, with the ovulation in the middle of the cycle [19]. Otherwise, the length of the cycle and the hormonal fluctuations are very similar.
